Internationally reknowned artist Sam McDowell creates exquisite scrimshaw pocket knifes with a whales, lighthouses, and other unique scrimshaw designs. The knifes are made by Kai Cutlery of Seki City, Japan, a company with a legendary history as makers of samurai swords. The blades are surgical steel with a brass liner, nickel silver repousse bolsters, and decorated with an intricate tracery of filework. The handles are highly polished camel bone. Each knife is individually hand-engraved and signed by the artist. Most are delivered in a custom croc-design leather pouch.
