As collaboration has been an integral factor in Susan and John’s first half of their lives, their discovery, the working, and the business of ceramics is also a collaborative effort during the second half. The first half was spent moving around the country because of job related transfers, raising a family and renovating the houses they lived in. The second half began with their retirement at a young age, married sons, and an exploration of the ceramic arts. They’ve watched their studio grow from one room to taking over every room in their house. With the exception of continuing education classes and private instruction, both are basically self taught. Susan and John learn by receiving good advice and continually work at their craft. “To be passionate about something so late in life, is to indeed be very lucky.”
